Media Accreditation
Media accreditation is strictly reserved for members of the press (print, photo, radio, television, film, news agencies and online media) who represent a bona fide media organization (See footnote #1 at the bottom). No media badge will be issued to journalists whose application does not conform to the established procedure. Please note, a new accreditation system was launched in August 2016. If this is your first application since the launch, please select First Accreditation -- the previous account information will not work.
Once the request is approved, a confirmation will be sent to the email on file in the online account. Media passes must be collected in person.
If you have not heard from us within 48 hours of the submission of your assignment letter, you should contact our offices: (212) 963-6934 or malu@un.org. Period review could be longer during special events.
Credentials are initially given for a period of four months, followed by application for annual renewal. Lapses in accreditation of more than 60 days will be treated as new applications. The transition from to an annual renewal will be based upon a review of professional coverage and conformity to the access guidelines.
In accepting a U.N. Media ID Card you are agreeing to the terms of the United Nations Media Access Guidelines. The UN grounds pass is non-transferable and misuse will result in its confiscation.
